Overview
The Password Managers Evaluation team is tasked with assessing the market for multi-platform password managers that would be a good match for Penn's needs. This is an exceptionally timely evaluation and would be of notable assistance if the University has to force a general password reset. A password manager evaluation was done in 2008; much has changed since then. Specific deliverables include evaluation of multi-platform password managers with the goal of conducting a competitive bid among two or three that are selected as a good match for Penn's needs.
Evaluation teams are expected to refine the scope and then pursue research and/or testing as appropriate based on the goals and expected deliverables. Teams that are asked to evaluate and recommend products should define requirements and selection criteria, develop a test script, identify candidate products and technologies, do testing, present findings, and make recommendations to IT Roundtable. The teams also will maintain web sites to enable others to stay informed regarding their progress, and will create draft documentation for LSPs and end users as appropriate.
