Planned: AirPennNet/eduroam update scheduled for May 18, 2020 (Update)

Update:

Yesterday's secure certificate update for RADIUS server is complete. As a friendly reminder, devices that are unable to join the network following yesterday's maintenance will need to reconfigure them for either AirPennNet or eduroam:

Instructions for how to reconfigure devices for AirPennNet can be found at:

To reconfigure a device for eduroam, re-run the wizard at:

On Monday, May 18th at 6PM, the secure certificate for Penn’s RADIUS server will be updated. The RADIUS server manages authentications for AirPennNet and eduroam.  Following the update, devices that do not have compatible certificates may be unable to connect to AirPennNet and/or eduroam until they are reconfigured.  Please note that AirPennNet-Device and AirPennNet-Guest will not be affected by the certificate update.

In the event that a device is not able to join the network following the certificate change, individuals will need to reconfigure them for either AirPennNet or eduroam:

Instructions on how to reconfigure devices for AirPennNet can be found at:

To reconfigure a device for eduroam, re-run the wizard at:

During testing to prepare for the certificate update, ISC staff observed that a subset of devices did not gracefully update the certificate and needed to be reconfigured to use the wireless network. Unfortunately, it is not possible for ISC to identify devices that will fail in to connect in advance of the update.  Windows, Android, MacOS and iOS all supported the new root certificate by the fall of 2016, so devices that are most likely to be adversely impacted by the certificate update are those running older operating systems or were configured for AirPennNet or eduroam prior to that date.
