Planned: Scheduled Border Router Maintenance on July 23 - 25, 2019 (Update)

UPDATE:

On Tuesday, July 23rd, the first round of border router maintenance initially communicated in the announcement below caused an unexpected service disruption. In response, additional corrective action will be taken during the maintenance window on Thursday, July 25th.

As a result, there may be a disruption to external service during Thursday’s maintenance window. In particular, VPN tunnels may drop and require a manual restart. ISC Data Center VPN tunnels will be closely monitored throughout the maintenance window.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to improve network service on PennNet.

Date: July 23 and July 25, 2019
Start Time: 5:00 AM
Duration: 2 hours

On Tuesday, July 23, and on Thursday, July 25, from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM, ISC will be upgrading Penn's border routers. The new routers support high-density 100Gbps connectivity which will be needed as part of the PennNet core network upgrade coming later this fiscal year.

External connectivity will be maintained with redundancy degraded during the maintenance window.

If you receive reports of problems connecting to Penn hosts from remote locations or connecting to external hosts from Penn's networks, especially if the problems persist beyond the planned maintenance window, please call ISC Client Care at 215-898-1000. The output of traceroute commands together with the time the output was generated are particularly useful if our engineers need to diagnose and resolve any unanticipated issues.
