Unplanned: LISTSERV Disruption on July 20-21, 2019

Service(s) affected: PennNet Mailing Lists, Classlists

This weekend, starting Saturday, July 20 at 4:30 PM through Sunday 8:15 PM, LISTSERV was receiving but not forwarding email to distribution lists for the PennNet Mailing List and the Classlists services. Although the system and application appeared to be functioning with no errors, no email was being distributed to lists. The LISTSERV process was shut down and restarted, and backlogged mail was then distributed to mailing lists.

We don’t currently have a root cause for the failure. However, we are opening a ticket with the vendor to investigate.
