The following phased approach will be used:
Phase I of Digital Ambition was mapping the impact of Digital Transformation work on the Penn landscape. The result was a whitepaper with recommendations to help continue to drive awareness and understanding of this trend and its implications for Penn.
Phase II of Digital Ambition leveraged the work and research from Phase I to promote a framework and set of tools for undertaking DX work at Penn. These were associated with four key workstreams: 1) Data Management and Governance, 2) Technology and Staffing/Skilling, 3) Privacy, Security, and Ethics, and 4) User Experience and a Customer-Centric Culture.
ISC is focused on helping Penn achieve the most coordinated and meaningful impact from campus DX efforts. They are a response to two important themes from Phases I & II:
- Penn is not a single monolithic company, but many diverse businesses. Digital transformation in our environment is taking place in different ways, at varying paces.
- Technology is ISC’s greatest sphere of influence. DX-related efforts in that arena are where we can demonstrate the most effective leadership the fastest.
In Phase III, we will:
- Document ISC's current and planned work that has a bearing on Digital Transformation.
- Capture any unplanned but relevant future opportunities. These may include potential activities to pursue across Penn and not just those within ISC (although the initial priority is for those directly relevant to ISC).
These materials will be used both to organize ISC’s DX-related efforts and to better communicate the foundational work that ISC is doing on behalf of the many diverse businesses at Penn. This foundation and framing are meant to help Penn’s Schools and Centers tackle their own DX work more efficiently and effectively. In the long term, they are also intended to facilitate a clearer vision of Penn’s broader, shared “Digital Ambition” and enhance our ability to achieve it.
