Minimum system requirements for 2017-2018 academic year

Windows systems

  • Memory: at least 8.0 GB RAM
  • Operating Systems: Windows 10, Windows 8.1 Update, or Windows 7 SP1 (Home Premium and above)

Mac systems

  • Memory: at least 8.0 GB RAM
  • Operating Systems: macOS 10.12 Sierra, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, or OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Initial evaluation

For all issues or requests that will take longer than 15 minutes to resolve or fulfill, computers will need to be checked into the Tech Center for System Evaluation.  Initial evaluations are limited to 15 minutes.

Data backup

Prior to leaving a computer with the Tech Center for a System Evaluation, Tech Center customers are responsible for backing up their own data before the system can be signed in for service.  Examples of services that could potentially impact customer data include:

  • Reinstallation of operating system software (may be required based on the results of diagnostic testing performed by Tech Center staff)
  • Format of a hard drive
  • Installation of the manufacturer's restore media

Due to the Tech Center's inability to verify the ownership of copyrighted material, the Tech Center will not back up movie or music files under any circumstances.

Hardware repair

Tech Center staff will provide limited, "best effort" support that involves hardware repair or replacement.  Typical examples of hardware repair performed by the Tech Center include hard drive and memory replacement.  The Tech Center reserves the right to refer customers to third-party vendors or to the manufacturer when a system is under warranty.
