Windows 10 1909 available for download

Today, November 12th, Microsoft released its latest major update to Windows 10, version 1909, otherwise known as the November 2019 update. At the moment, the update is available to those that use Windows Update manually to find it, with automatic updates to systems expected at some point in the near future. Windows 10 version 1909 differs from previous Windows 10 updates in that it is notably smaller in scale than previous biannual OS revisions, acting akin to a "service pack" to the previous version, 1903.

ISC strongly recommends that all University users adopt a "wait and see" approach and continue to use earlier versions of Windows 10 for at least two weeks. This approach will allow for additional time to identify bugs and incompatibilities not initially discovered on campus. Though the changes to the OS in version 1909 are modest, caution is still warranted as earlier major updates of Windows 10 had significant bugs on release that caused Microsoft to delay or recall them.

ISC will continue to monitor and test version 1909 and will report back when we are reasonably confident that most major compatibility issues have been addressed.
