Planned: 3401 Walnut Data Center Outage (8/4/2018 to 8/5/2018)

UPDATE: The 3401 Walnut Data Center outage planned for August 4 & 5 for activities associated with decommissioning the facility has been modified as follows.

ISC is pleased to report that it will be able to perform decommissioning work at 3401 Walnut without a power shutdown that would take the facility completely offline. However, the work will require that some systems be rendered unavailable, and we will send notices to those who will be directly impacted. Please note that we will continue to reserve the full 48-hour maintenance window. Information sessions to answer questions about the power shutdown have been canceled.

If you have any questions or concerns about the applications you use, please contact your regular application support resource or Local Support Provider.

Information Systems & Computing has scheduled a data center outage for Saturday, August 4, 2018. The 3401 Walnut Data Center, which houses a number of critical University applications and services, will be taken off-line on Saturday, August 4, 2018 for activities associated with the migration and decommissioning of the data center facility. It is expected that the full 48-hour maintenance window will be necessary: August 4, 12:00 a.m. through August 5, 11:59 p.m.

While there is never a perfect time for the data center to be off-line, we have scheduled the outage for the weekend and on dates that are the least disruptive to significant campus events and key dates in the University’s academic and business calendars. As in similar outages, we ask that you do not schedule system-dependent events during this time.

Our apologies for any inconvenience the service interruption may cause and we thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Important: Below are the applications and services that will NOT be available during the outage. Note that this is not a complete list and it will be updated as we approach the outage. If you have any questions or concerns about the applications you use, please contact your regular application support resource or Local Support Provider.

Information sessions

ISC will hold two information sessions to answer questions about the August outage. Look for details about the sessions, including registration information, on this page and on the ISC News page at https://www.isc.upenn.edu/news.
