Overview
Desktop Engineering provides a suite of services designed to assist IT staff in providing desktop support to their end users. These services include providing advice, consulting, and access to existing vendor resources. Desktop Engineering also provides access, management and support for several cloud-based tools to assist in desktop support, including mobile device management and endpoint backup tools.
Offerings
- Standards Lab and Mobile Cart – A lab of desktop systems and mobile devices aligned with the University’s Desktop Recommendations, available to IT staff for testing
- Client Technologies Support – Consulting and support for Penn client technologies, including Penn’s Supported Computing Products
- Enterprise Vendor Support – Facilitation to vendor resources, including Apple Enterprise Support
- Mobile Device Management – Access to JAMF Pro, a tool for managing iOS and Macintosh devices
- Backup for Desktop and Laptop – Access to CrashPlan Pro, a cloud-based tool for backing up end-user desktop and notebook systems
- Endpoint Detection and Response – Access to CrowdStrike, a security tool used to detect and prevent security attacks and breaches
- Desk Hoteling – Access to Robin, a Desk Hoteling tool used for managing flexible work spaces
