These tables list actual power readings in watts from various desktop, notebook, and 2-in-1 systems in common use at the University. This link includes the full set of data, as well as information regarding other obsolete systems.
General notes: all testing was done with networking on (Ethernet for desktops and 2-in-1s, Wi-Fi for notebooks) unless otherwise noted, native screen resolution, and a fully charged battery (except for the battery charging category where the results are recoreded at less than 80% charged). The 2-in-1s and notebooks were tested with highest brightness screens, but the Idle category was tested at both highest brightness and lowest brightness. Moderate use was tested by running several tabs on FireFox and watching an online video in full screen. An * indicates that the data is still being tested. A P4460 Kill-A-Watt EZ meter was used to measure the power. The meter has a 2% accuracy.
