With the COVID-19 pandemic causing much of Penn’s operations and classes to go remote and virtual, one group of students has taken things a step further—working together to create a virtual version of Penn’s campus in the video game Minecraft. For those unfamiliar with Minecraft, it is a game where players can gather resources and use them to create Lego-like structures.
This group of students created “Penncraft,” recreating Penn’s campus in exacting detail using multiple tools, and the story went viral, being featured in Business Insider, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and many other news sites. For May’s SUG, the students that put together Penncraft will be presenting their creation, giving a demonstration, and answering any questions you may have.
