Changes coming soon to AirPennNet Onboarding – Your participation is requested!

We are writing to notify you that ISC will be making improvements to the onboarding experience for AirPennNet.  The current process, which uses the SSID AirPennNet-Help, is currently due for a refresh.  We are targeting Summer 2018 to transition to a new onboarding process and we need your input and feedback. 

What will change?

Improve end user experience

The new front-end tool is cloud-based and will provide rapid and iterative support for new devices.  It addresses a number of pain points that the existing onboarding tool does not, including support for Android Windows 10 devices.

Security enhancements

The new back-end solution will use a one-time PennKey Authentication to issue a certificate to your device.  Thereafter, there will be mutual authentication, where the device must trust the server’s certificate, and the server must trust the device’s certificate.

How will this affect you?

Every device on AirPennNet will need to complete the new onboarding process between Summer 2018 and Fall 2019. 

What do we need from you? 

We need your input and feedback to help us refine the proposed solution to be more intuitive for our customers.

Client Focus Groups will be held to gather additional input for improving the onboarding process.  Topics for exploration include renaming and/or consolidating existing SSIDs.  Lunch will be served.

Information Sessions will be held to obtain feedback from Schools/Centers. Bring your own devices to validate functionality using the new tool, test the EAP-TLS certificate revocation process and/or hear more detailed information from the ISC Project team.
