Emerging Solutions Evaluation Process

The Emerging Solutions Evaluation Process provides a structured approach to evaluating new solutions to informtion technology challenges at the University of Pennsylvania. The process will determine the fit of the proposed solution within the information technology environment at Penn.

Principles

  • The process will be transparent and engages appropriate stakeholders around campus
  • Solutions evaluated can come from different sources, including schools/centers, existing technology partners or providers new to Penn
  • Solutions can range from a 'blue sky' idea to a fully mature vendor provided solution

Process Description

The process consists of 5 distinct steps:

  1. Identify
  2. Evaluate
    • Check Point / Report
  3. Scope
    • Check Point / Report
  4. Test
  5. Close out

The check points after the Evaluation and Scope steps will allow a review by the stakeholders of the proposed way forward with specific solutions. Here you can find a process flow diagram. You can find the list of current evaluations here.
